We have attended The Old old bank house, 5 times since April, there is so many energies linked to that building.  This is what I have seen, spoke to and got information from since going.

But first, let’s introduce you to The Old Bank House, Wombwell.  The old bank was building was completed in 1895, this beautiful building being built originally as 3 shops and living quarters for the bank master upstairs.   The bank was needed, especially as since the mid 1800s mining became a big part of this sleepy village. Which is now a town of a population of 12,400 to 15,300 in 2025.  You are likely wondering where did Wombwell come from?

The first record of Wombwell is in the doomsday book 1066, written by William the conquer.  Originally named Wanbella by the French king, usually most places would only have 1 lord but Wombwell had 3.  The first was Land of Roger of Bully, his land being valued at £1 (worth now up to £800,000) , 2nd Land of Walter of Aincort, his land being worth 10 shillings and 7 pence (£500,000), last Land of Thor, land worth £2 (£1,600,000).  This may have caused the spilt into smaller regions of Wombwell, which are, Jump, Lundhill, Hemingford and Smithley.   All having their own mining community in the 1800s.  But before this it had seen horrors, from burning of its fields to battles in the war of the roses.

As mining rose so did the crimes, for a place of nearly 4,000 people towards the end of 1800s this is a rise of nearly 3,000 people.   The crimes include a murder nearly every year, but sadly also deaths of so many, in strange accidents or suicides.

This next bit there has been controversy over, but I’m a nightmare.  I will research your building until I’m blue in face.  This is how I know, something not even the debunkers talk about, that there was a hospital 500 yards from 30 East drive!  The only thing I don’t do is go to the archives, Matt and Ria the owners of old bank have been amazing and provided us with this.  Saving me and you’s petrol and time, but as always before the 1980s record keeping was not very good.  This means a lot of confusing and misinformation from names spelt wrong to date of births, places and even name changes.  Below is showing the distance that Lundhill mine entrance was to Old bank house.  Also you will see a map of the Lundhill mines from the miners associations records, provided by Matt and Ria. 

So, in 1857, Lundhill a small area of Wombwell, let’s talk Lundhill disaster.  I know there is a lot claiming to of researched this, but I feel, they have thrown it together just for content, and their dislike of previous owner.  (Which I have no opinion on as I don’t know her, I go off just facts when researching).  On the 19th February 1857, sadly a colliery did explode, taking 189 boys and men with it.  This was a sad time in Wombwell, with many families losing their whole male line.  Mr Maddison, the viewer (manager) from Wombwell Colliery arrived 20 minutes after the explosion, that he heard. A journey in a car would only be 3 minutes now, but sadly then was horse or walking.  But it’s not like he could do anything to help as the cage was broken.  The north stream was the Barnsley stream, that went 215 yards towards the old bank.  I will provide a photo, even though it says 1.8 miles please remember it will go straight! As the mines didn’t use these roads. I have drawn a line to show this and explain. 

Let’s get on to the paranormal, yes, Wombwell is full.  Even talking with staff in poundland across the road explained this.  When I first drove into Wombwell, now this was before visiting The old bank, as we were regularly around this area. See I don’t go around always open to everything, as that can invite too much.  Visiting Old bank was the first time I drove in open.  Just before coming into the area, I had a vision of 5 women being hun, looked between 1400s and 1600s, sadly there is no record of this.  As they died 3 of them cursed the land of Wombwell.  We need to remember that this was a time of war, and so many religious things happening.  Now, let’s the met the Ghosts I have met there, well some are entities.  

John

John when I first met him was claiming to be the manager of the bank.  He knew one of my spirit guides as well.  My spirit guide was trying to convince him to go to the light.  John, refused as he was there to protect the many children spirits there.  Even though in life, John wasn’t a nice person, he seems to be now trying to make up for it.  When we were doing this John kept telling us that there was John Harrison, but we found out that name linked with another spirit in the building.  He then gave me hints to he’s name by saying sister, as he shares their surname.  I didn’t understand this at first, thought they were trying to claim one of us there was their sister in a previous life.  This is the problem with spirits, they aren’t very direct with the communication, this is why sometimes when giving clairvoyant readings this can be seen.  

Turned out he wasn’t exactly the bank manager, he was the care taker of the building, but in some ways that could of been seen the bank manager.  He will not talk about anything before the bank sadly, as he says that is none of our business and he does not wish to remember it.  When returning with another lady who invited me, John was still there and protected her son.  But we returned for our own investigation, 6 days later and John was no longer there.  I felt for he’s energy and it was not even in the derelict area with the children.  Apparently there is now a female spirit that is looking out for him.  Strange when we went on the last time he was there, he kept saying to me “Amy, I can’t do this anymore”.  Made me so sad to hear, I asked if he needed more help from me, he said it wouldn’t matter.  Sounds like it more got to him emotionally.  As when anyone was in there, the dark spirits liked to surround the room and try to force their way in.  I then said to him, “is it time to go to the light John”.  Writing this I can feel the emotion coming up.  He’s reply was, “No duck, they will not have me”.  The light never refuses anyone, it is our own judgement on ourselves and the choices we make that stops us.  Knowing that he must of once gone into the light and felt so much guilt for he’s actions he is now enterally in hell.  In some ways shows how he does have remorse.  

This man couldn’t see the positive things he done, in life he had been a man of the community, coming from Maltby, he kept talking about the salvation army as well.  You see my family were all in the sally army and were officers.  He spoke about how he was also an officer, an Captain in fact.  He told me, that the bible doesn’t teach us that any sin can not be repented, you can still feel that guilt trying to go into the light.  This made sense to what he said about the dark, “Love, I won’t give way to the true darkness.  Don’t you worry about that.  Why do you care? I won’t go like them killers upstairs”.  All I can do is pray, that John one day finds the peace he needs and returns to the light.  

Mary

Mary, was a spirit that effected me upstairs.  She passed neglected, taking my breath away.  This is when I first went there, but last time I was there she was down in the bankers office.  That was a shock to me, but she is learning how to learn after the children.  She was originally being abused by the spirits upstairs, they were using her energy to be able to do things.  But some how she has become stronger.  We do a lot of messing around when she’s about, I also feel she loved singing.  As we love it when she’s there with us, we will dance and sing.  One thing that always shocks me is she loves religious songs (ones upstairs don’t), especially when I sing Amazing Grace, even though she likes to take the mick as I never remember the last bit.  What can I say, I now worship the Greek Gods and Goddesses, so not often singing them.  Her favourite child there is Igrain (Fiona), like Mary she is very cheeky. 

She doesn’t really talk, but she likes to show me her emotions.  One thing she likes to do is stroke faces (NOT HAIR).  She has never talked about her life, unlike John, so I don’t understand why she is still here.  Especially as she seems very Godly.  I think she was a domestic maid within the property, she may not of died there, but it was a place she was happy.  

Igrain

So this cheeky little girl is so cute, she is down stairs, only really in hall way or seance room.  She is very polite, but at the same time if she likes you will show a more playful side.  Unlike the dark spirits upstairs, she is not pretending to be a child spirit.  Being happy to be still at the old bank, as she is no longer in pain, but she does hide from the darker spirits in the derelict side of the building.  Communication with her is very hard, as she plays with the dowsing rods as well as she cannot spell.  I think she is from before the old bank, when it was just the cottages there.  She has told me she came to live with her aunt and uncle, who were good to her.  She couldn’t find her mum and dad after she past so she stayed there as it was safest place until 2021.  

To others she is known as Fiona, sadly the old names people don’t know.  We had a giggle about some of the names from Victorian period between us.  She loves being fussed over, and made to feel really cared for.  She looks after the other children there, even though she is 9 and not the oldest, but she said “this is what my aunty and mum would do”.  

The dark ones

So some I do not want to give too much out on in respect of the victims families and possible victims that are still alive.  But one of them is claiming to be a nasty piece of work close to the area.  This one came in in 2021, I found this out when Igrain said “the nasty one came and that gave it more power”.  I asked John about this, this is when he told us about the spirit John Harrison, sadly this wasn’t a spirit there, but a hint to who was.  This spirit has laughed about he’s victims, said he “couldn’t help it she possessed him”.  Hates the name Steven, claiming it is the same name of a man that abused him.  Often hides from ones that are strong, or tries to out smart them.  

Axe murderer, we are unsure who this is.  But he gave us Axe many times, you see they know their names give us power so will try not to give us them.  Especially as at the moment they are just parasites.  By this I mean they are on their way to what Christians call demonic.  All we know is he killed a woman with an axe, confusing thing is on our first visit there we got the name John Harrison, 60’s and London, when we searched this a murder from London only one came up.  But I do not believe this was a link between one spirit there.  

There is 2 I’m unsure of, one is a male, very big, he is the one that likes to pin people in the old bankers office.  The other is a female, lot older, I have only seen her on Camera as caught her saying “Emily”.  She is around 30’s and in high class medieval outfits, she smiles wickedly at the camera as if she’s enjoying tricking me. As even though I know she’s there but she stops all communication.  Now Medieval Yorkshire would of spoke Norse, Dutch, French, Olde English and German. So Emily may not even be a name.

Now the one that plays the cruelest games with me, the crawler, this is my nickname for him.  He likes to trick and play.  At the moment he is in the cupboard upstairs, I try to stay away from him.  The first time I communicated with him was with Dee from Midlands spirit seeker. Up until this I thought he was a miner with something like cerebral palsy, but I no longer think he is that, maybe doing an act.  He has the attitude of a 5 year old, but shows me death at 15, but has the energy of something that’s been here thousands of years. Certainly the oldest spirit I have met.  To get us in there he was crying like a child, that had been abused that is why he was like it.  He had a soft spot for the maid Mary, when we first when there he was using her for energy.  She disappeared for a while and has come back on our last visit.  But as soon as we questioned he’s behaviour energy changed, Dee actually felt, what I was saying about being rushed towards by it.  It never does that, but he gives you the feeling he would.  He also shows his self as different children upstairs to get you to think it’s all ok.  He hates me as I see through it, honestly, hate how much they dislike me.  But I guess shows how light I am.    Telling my husband and Dee that I blind them.  

At the moment, they are the main ones, I could give you big detail on.  The girl in the mirror of the nursery, not figured her out yet.  As well as many other spirits which are there, hopefully one day there will be an update on this and how I now know everyone of them there.
